I wonder where one would slot edig in this arena?

My guess is that EDIG would fall into a ``tweener`` category as Boyer dreamed up the digEplayer, brought the idea to EDIG, then EDIG`s capable engineers spit out the final product and now the eVU upgrade.

I believe a lot of OEM / ODM companies operate on the premise that the customer (brand) know what they want and do very little to add value to the deal. The role of these companies has changed dramatically as the tech, both consumer product and manufacturing side, made so many all encomposing ``engineering only`` design houses out dated and expensive by comparison.

Today, most of these companies specialize in a particular product group or manufacturing base. We use one company for digital amplifiers and another for digital signal processing / effects, and yet another for high wattage electronics and straight ahead power amps for pro audio gear. All are manufactured at different contract facilities shattered over small China cities -- usually with food sources you would not feed to your worst enemy! Thank goodness they have cold beer.

Now, we are back to: EDIG needs to sell something.
