This was a topic in the CE trade press this past CES in Jan. There are a lot of companies looking to get into the auto electronics market without all the integration problems you have with a standard car music system -- installation, different wiring by manufacturer, quality of aftermarket installation, etc... Wireless applications make the most sense in most parts of the country as long as you can get power to the device from the car.
One of the proposed solutions were portables that had aftermarket cradles for car power. These have been on the market for a few years to use with a cell phone, but now consumers want to integrate much more. There was a ``smart`` cradle prototype for a PDA that could read email as you drive. I don`t like email that much and I hate the new ``Crackberry`` addicts that never seem to put their toy away. So, you never have their full attention.
Anybody remember a fax machine?
