June 19, 2006 – HANDHELD IFE manufacturer IMS Inflight is moving this month to bigger premises to accommodate the additional growth it projects for 2007.
The company says its sales volume has tripled in the past two years, driven by the launch of portable IFE and wireless loading products. The new facility – in Anaheim, California - will provide warehousing, a substantial increase in development lab space, and office room for a staff that is expected to expand.
The move coincides with the launch of IMS’ 10.6in handheld players in the business-class cabin of American Airlines’ 767 fleet, and the carrier’s adoption of the IMS Terminal Data Loader (TDL) embedded wireless content loading device. TDL is also being supplied to Virgin America and via Rockwell Collins to a major European airline.
In the near future IMS will launch service based on its new PAV-700 portable media player with both Air India and a soon to be announced European airline.
IMS is pinning its hopes for growth next year on new relationships with leading IFE players, applications of its core technologies in new markets, and emerging opportunities in the avionics and military sectors.
