A possible KEY

Read this copy below and reflect on this. Of course I can`t think of the firm that I spoke with Fred about and that some were discussing here around the time of the SHM. That firm was able to load the content wirelessly! Fred said that they were talking with that firm before hooking up with Wencor, but when Wencor and that firm hooked up EDIG was out of the picture. ( During the summer the deal with Wencor and that firm fell thru ( wonder why LOL ) and I suggested that EDIG ought to get back in touch. I don`t think that ever happened or has been stated but...Fred said that would be a good idea.... Wireless secure transmition of data seemed to be the key that Wencor was looking for with the digEsystem and also the thing that made the digEplayer not the best player possible ( too much down time for loading content). So this article talks about Mezzo having that capability. Is it their tech? Is it a partners tech? Is it the unnamed firm that ditched Wencor? Does RR have that tech? The key seemed to be the ease of getting the info and movies loaded onto the players fast. Less than ten minutes or even while the plane was pulling in or out of airport. I just saw the wireless contectivity as a key to pleasing the airlines who don`t want to spend money on time with a waiting plane. Does eVU have that capability and if so thru what company`s tech?http://www.shephard.co.uk/Inflight/default.aspx?Action=-1000945703&ID=8fc41557-b35d-49d7-892c-4cbf3354f80a

``On the hardware side, Mezzo is focused on the new handheld systems – APS/Wencor digEplayer, IMS PEA, Astronics (ex-GD) YES – while passengers’ own portable devices, including laptops and PDAs, would also be accommodated.

We are handset-agnostic,” says Sampson. “We don’t sell the devices - we will work with the airline to select the most appropriate. All three handsets are excellent, offering a real choice to airlines.” Mezzo’s own content management platform can automatically deliver encrypted digital entertainment files in file sizes and formats to suit the end-device, according to the company. The Mezzo service could include the selection and purchasing of devices and onboard content loading stations for the airline, and inventory management, maintenance and repair.

Content management services could include encoding and encryption, supply and operation of a content management platform, and automated content acceptance, distribution and upload to passenger devices.

The Mezzo content management platform is designed to automate the process of content loading to and data retrieval from the handheld devices, using encrypted files only. “Network delivery of content is important to minimising costs as well as enabling content to be refreshed as frequently as necessary,” Sampson observes. “It will allow us to quickly replace content that is unpopular - a key way of ensuring that what the passenger sees remains appealing.”
