June 2, 2006 – HANDHELD IFE manufacturer digEcor has contracted with Bahrain-based Hawar Centre for the supply of Middle Eastern content to run on the new digEplayer XT.

Hawar Center is a media company specialising in the production, sourcing and compilation of IFE programmes and films in various languages. “This tie-up between one of the largest Arabic content providers and the leading portable IFE provider will give airlines the best of both worlds,” says Hawar Centre IFE manager Nandini Chadha.

Hawar Centre supplies Arabic-language films and short programmes to several Middle Eastern and other major airlines, including Etihad, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Malaysian Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.

digEcor’s decision to team with a major regional content provider is a sign that the Utah-based company has taken to heart criticisms of its content infrastructure and is now moving to put in place the relationships needed to assure the level of supply demanded by the airlines.
