Pre-flight entertainment in new ANA lounges

June 1, 2006 – PASSENGERS using the lounges in the new Star Alliance area that opens tomorrow in the south wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo Narita will find that the entertainment can start well before they take their seats on the aircraft.

Among the facilities on offer in the All Nippon Airlines lounges are “broadband booths” featuring PCs providing not only high-speed Internet access but also on-demand entertainment, including films and satellite, cable and terrestrial television.

The south wing of Narita Terminal 1, along with Satellites 3, 4 and 5, is now the home of Star Alliance members ANA, Air Canada, Asiana, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, SWISS, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines. The facility is the latest reflection of Star Alliance’s policy of co-locating member airlines in branded terminals at major hubs. The alliance has similar projects under way in Bangkok, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami and Paris.

Other facilities at the new terminal area include kerbside check-in, a main check-in area zoned according to class of travel and also equipped with self-service units, a priority security lane for premium passengers, and a total of six business and first-class lounges in departures plus, for the first time, an arrival lounge for international passengers.
