New premium carrier to offer digEplayer

April 25, 2006 – DIGEPLAYER handheld IFE systems will be part of the service mix when new British premium-only carrier Fly First Class starts operations on Stansted-Bermuda some time this quarter.

Pending approval from the UK and Bermudan authorities for an initial four-times-a-week service, the carrier is preparing an offering that will include leather seats at generous pitch, an onboard chef in the first-class cabin, a complimentary open bar and no fewer than 11 flight attendants for a maximum of 90 passengers per flight.

The airline’s single Boeing 767 will be configured with three cabins: First Class Executive with ten seats at 78in pitch, 54 Business Executive (54 at 73in) and 26 Suite Class Executive (26 at 40in).

Passengers in all classes will be offered digEcor digEplayers loaded with ten current films and games. All seats will have power for laptops and other devices.

* Fast-growing Indian carrier Kingfisher entered service on the promise of a business-class service at economy prices. But now it has launched a differentiated business-class offering under the label “Kingfisher First”.

Kingfisher’s initial jet fleet comprises a growing number of Airbus A320-family aircraft with Thales Avionics TopFlight IFE hardware in all seats. The introduction of Kingfisher First will see the originally 174-seat A320s fitted with 20 first-class seats – 48in-pitch “sleeperettes” offering 125 degrees of recline, adjustable headrests and fully extendable footrests - and 104 in economy.

IFE provision in the new first-class will include English and Hindi movies delivered on demand to 8.4in LCD swivel screens and noise-cancelling headphones. Other content will include TV and radio-style programming, music, games and a moving map.
