You can earn activity points by filling your profile with information about yourself (what city you live in, your favorite team, blogs etc.)
Perhaps it is a programming "bug" that thinks I want to remove a previous recomendation (since I browse the site infrequently I use the "You have already recommended this message" indicator to remind me when I previously seen a message).
