With regard to mine costs if we can cheaply convert our graphite to graphene and we can get even a significant fraction of $100,000/kg for graphene we could employee someone with a pick and shovel and use a wheelbarrow to take it out to the main road and make money.  For a 10% cut I would volunteer to operate the wheelbarrow.
