Yes the fact that graphite has now been deemed by governments a "strategic mineral" is very significant. My contact at RS mines in Sri Lanka expects graphene to be comparable with bakelite in it's impact on world markets and quoted Sir Konstantin Novoselov when he made his Nobel Prize speech – “to make graphene you need to use the best material”!

And that's just graphene!!
