Message: The Big Score

Several years ago, when Noront was in the headlines, I read recommendations from posters that the book was a good read. It was a repeat of this from posters here talking about how good the book was, that I did read the book. It is a remarkable story.

My understanding about Teck's involvement with DFS was that DFS needed an infusion of money. In any story there are always other side issues besides the main point. Not much in life is really simple. DFS had fears of a hostile takeover offer and they were trying to involve others to create multiple bidders. But at the same time were trying to keep as much secrecy about the deposit as they could. Friedland's problem was his attempt at promoting this to be a big opportunity and he was drilling to prove it. His biggest fear was drilling some bad holes. I even think they did miss with one and that shook him up. Lots of unknowns to deal with. Even in dealing with Teck he feared they might back away. He wanted a lot of money and he finally persuaded Teck that the value was there. When he got Teck on board with the money, the market did not accept the per share amount. Eventually the market did get it. The important fact is that Friedland and Teck had a deal regardless of what the market thought. The market did not have it right and Friedland didn't give a hoot. This is what I took away from the Big Score on this point.

I have enough confidence in AE and the BOD at Zenyatta that any company wanting a peice of ZEN will negotiate a price and the market price will not matter this time either. The PEA does have to impress the interested parties much more than the resource estimate did. I'm sure it will, and hopefully catch the eyes of the uninterested ones as well.
