Hydrothermal Graphite Deposit Ammenable for Commercial Graphene Applications
BP,
Agreed that graphene is an excellent material for future applications. It's the technology for graphene applications would be where the money is. Whoever gets there first wins. Currently, all the biggies such as Samsung, IBM, etc. are investing in their R&D projects big time, billions of dollars. A small junior is no match, unless it has brilliant idea in a stroke of luck...and have enough money to carry it through. The time frame for graphene to break through would be in perhaps 10 years or so, for sure not in the next 3 years.
I am a pro-technology, hence I would keep an eye on the graphene front. However, ZEN and other graphite companies are in a different business. They are in the exploration and development business (i.e., not in the mining, except perhaps for a few). Their business would lead to digging up the stuff and sell it, in bulk, for current and near-future (next 2-5 years) applications. The most promising one is in the area of batteries for e-cars and portable devices... and energy storage applications, where there is a demand for high quality graphite. Supplying the graphite to companies like Panasonic and Tesla Megafactory is where the money is for ZEN.
For ZEN, I would say the company is in the exploration business and it will be sold to a mining company for developing a mine within a year (at most, 2 years). As investors, we would want the best return for our investment. For me, I would tender my shares if the price is right. For example, an offer of $10/s would attract my attention. Anything above that would trigger some share disposal (50%?). And...part of the profit could be invested in the some promising graphene R&D companies?
Just my take on the current situation.
