Hi goldhunter,
Thanks for your post. NGC has positionned themselves as a graphite supplier for 94% purity graphite and that is what they are bringing to market as per their BFS. However, they are also chasing the synthetic market by going after the Li ion battery research they are doing. So in this regards, they are going after the same market and in this regard, I believe ZEN will out perform NGC spherical graphite and will blow them away on the cost aspect.
NGC's cost to produce 94% is $968 as per their BFS. Taking 94% purity, extracting the large flakes, "sphericalizing" them, purifying to 99%+ will add significant cost for them on top of the $968. ZEN cost to produce 99.99% purity and "spherical" qualities will come in around $500 as per Hoov and the research I have done.
As for performance, it was nice for me to see NGC's natural graphite out perform synthetic on those metrics. Since hydrothermal historically outperforms flake, than I believe ZEN graphite will be the king of the Li ion battery market. Lot's of work to do to prove it, but the case is very strong that it will.
