i have many stories of the old floor both on howe st and the granville one from 79 to closure in 91. i will post from time to tme with gumbys ok
it as a busy time and bodies were needed. i was hired on the recommendation of my broker. I had traded and shown a knack for it.I was 19 and had to cut my long hair and buy a 99$ tip top tailer suit and get my dad to do up the tie
i was what they called the chimp. i took the orders from the trading center in the office [trade desk] over the phone, sorted them and delivered to the trader. i reported the transactions back to the desk [fills]
most importantly, i was the errand boy for food.
my first lesson
was dispatched to moishes restaurant. a hole in the wall perveying montreal smoked meat sandwiches.Strange breakfast choice i thought
3 combos. i got the bag, 3 sandwiches and 3 milkshakes....breakfast at 0700 was a sandwich and a camoflauged beer.
i smiled, i was going to like the floor. when we moved the show to granville, a stairwell provided access to the 4seasons lounge.
if service before 1100hrs was required, 'walks'always had a full bar at the ready
moishe retired on those shakes to the vse floor
