Timmins Gold Camp, Ontario - Sierra Madre Gold Belt, Mexico
While I realize this is off topic, I thought it might be useful enough to forum readers here that I have taken the liberty of posting it to the main WTM forum / board. (This has already been posted to the San Gold board)
Intierra Resource Intelligence Website: http://intierramapping.com/
The above website contains a "treasure trove" of of mining exploration maps, which at the present time are freely accessible to the public. Virtually every active mining district in Canada is represented and likely the rest of the world too. The only downer is that I don't think the site will allow you to copy any of the maps displayed, and has features to prevent that from occuring.
Tips for using- please read this first:
1) Go to the intierra mapping main page (link provided above) When you arrive at the 1st / main page, look along the left hand margin , and you will see a key marked "Current Maps", and just below that- "North America" Use your PC mouse to click on "North America"
2) You should now arrive at a 2nd page listing all the North American Mining Area maps.
Scroll down this page noting the map titles until you arrive at the map you may be interested in, in our case it would be "Timmins-Kirkland"
3) Click your mouse directly over the map shown for Timmins Kirkland, and you will arrive at a new page for that specific map. Looking along the top margin of the displayed map, and you will see a title marked "zoomed map", and using your mouse, click "zoomed map"
4)Next you will see the zoomed map page displayed in front of you, you will find the map size has shrunk!, not quite what one would expect from a zoomed , or enlarged map. BUT- If you look up in the upper right hand corner you will see an icon marked "rollover thumbnail" Click on "rollover thumbnail", wait about ten seconds for the map to adjust. As the rollover thumbnail icon activates, move it around, and watch what happens. I think you'll be impressed;Iknow I was. Try it. I think you'll like it!
