Victory Nickel Announces Changes to Board of Directors
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 29, 2009) - Victory Nickel Inc. ("Victory Nickel" or the "Company")(TSX:NI) (www.victorynickel.ca) announced today that Wayne Whymark has resigned from the Board of Directors. Mr. Whymark joined the Board of Directors in October, 2008 pursuant to the Support Agreement entered into by Victory Nickel and Independent Nickel Corp. ("Independent Nickel") pursuant to Victory Nickel's offer to purchase all of the outstanding shares of Independent Nickel.

With the departure of Mr. Whymark, Mr. Rene Galipeau, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, has been re-appointed to his roles of Vice-Chairman and Director. Mr. Galipeau vacated his seat on the Board of Directors in October, 2008, along with George Archibald, in order to facilitate the addition of Mr. Whymark and Richard Murphy, both of whom were former Directors of Independent Nickel, to Victory Nickel's Board. Mr. Murphy, formerly Chief Executive Officer of Independent Nickel, remains on the Victory Nickel Board.

"It is unfortunate that we are losing Mr. Whymark's experience at this time, however we are fortunate to be able to have Mr. Galipeau return to the Board, bringing with him his knowledge of the Company and his expertise," said Chairman W. Warren Holmes.
