How to Guage Supply/Demand for Jr Gold Exploration Companies

posted on Oct 13, 2009 10:06PM
10/13/09 Several months ago Robert McEwen (President of US Gold and Former President of Gold Corp)created his own 'in house' junior gold exploration index which is composed of 30 top tier junior exploration stocks which have gold reserves in the ground, cash reserves for exploration and corporate needs, and are relatively close to actually producing gold. His index is the only index that is a pure play on the junior gold exploration companies. I have created my own point and figure charts for each stock in his index and I also have created a customized chart (not at this site) that tracks the percentage of stocks in his sector that are currently on buy signals, as well as a point and figure chart for the index itself. As for the index itself, it is presently on a double top buy signal, and is in a column of "X's" indicating that demand is in control. My bullish percentage chart indicates that, as of today 82% of the stocks in McEwen's index are presently on buy signals and the chart is in a column of 'X's' indicating that demand is in control for this specialized sector. When demand is in control your objective is to score against the market and accumulate as much capital as possible. One should note that Victoria Gold, a personal holding of mine that is also a junior gold exploration company that meets the criteria for being part of McEwen's index, is not part of the index - although I would consider it a proxy for the index. Victoria's point and figure chart is also on a double top buy signal and is in a column of "X's" indicating that demand is in control.
Bottom Line: Demand is in control for the top tier junior gold exploration companies - including Victoria Gold. I will be monitoring my point and figure charts for the "Bullish Percentage Chart" and "McEwen's Junior Gold Exploration Index" to see if there is a shift from demand being in control to where supply is in control. Keep in mind that there are only two things that will move a stock: Supply and Demand. Once you know what factor is in control of the market, then you have to refer to your "Play Book" to see what strategies you need to implement - defense or offence.
