The good thing about the name change would be if it signals a change in attitude. I guess Newmont and Barrick can play coy if they both agree to. No European, Asian companies have stepped up to the plate. If we want the money, we may have to dig it out our selves; we cease to be a "resource" company and become a "gold" company.
