VIASPACE Subsidiary Signs Deal With OEM To Provide Fuel Cell Cartridges And Valves

PASADENA, CA -July 15, 2008-- VIASPACE Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), announced today that its Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC) subsidiary has signed an agreement to provide methanol fuel cell cartridges and interface valves to a major portable electronics OEM. The application is an electronic device powered by a direct methanol fuel cell instead of a battery. The name of the OEM was not revealed.

My guess is that the ultimate buyer of this stuff may be laptop / cell phone producer that is not ready to divulge their product as it has not yet hit the market - and may be under confidentiality agreement to act in this manner. I would also guess that multiple companies are involved in this product development based on the projected market trends / potential overall revenue. Apparently the Japanese appear to be on the forefront of this type of power engine - using disposable cartridges to power laptops or cell phones to avoid the annoying recharging by conventional means – and customers would be willing to foot the bill for such convenience.
