About the fibre optics industry
Fibre optics is the future of communications, and fibre optic connectors are one of the major profit centres within this market. The signal transmission business is in the early stages of a fibre optics bull market. All signal transmission, in the many and various forms, are being converted from electrical, using copper wire and coaxial cable, to fibre optics. In the United States, the administration of president Barack Obama has recently pledged an initial $7.2-billion (U.S.) to a plan that calls for 100 million Americans to have access to superhigh-speed Internet. This high-speed Internet will require significant fibre optic infrastructure. The annual global market for fibre optic connectors is projected to grow to $3.45-billion (U.S.) in 2011 (ElectroniCast Consultants).
