When you want to sell a large amount of shares lets say 20K then, instead of ordering "sell 20 000" and probably pull the price down, you pass several small orders of 2-5K . There is never a large number on the "ask side" to scare other investors and you succeed to sell your 20K = called iceberg sell or buy. vila
