My understanding is that Atmel already has sales and clients with their product. Unxl is attempting to combine the two to have an even superior and less costly product for their existing clients and new ones in the future. They surely will have to have some amount of testing the combination to make sure it is successful before they can sell it. How long testing, who knows?
