This seemed especially odd to me given that all of my research pointed to large future revenues.   I therefore reached out to numerous people who were short or selling and came to the following conclusions:   "small institutions" were often selling because the extreme volatility has caused Unipixel to break their risk limits and forced them to decrease the position size. They are still very bullish and hope to add more once the volatility comes down.   "retail longs" are selling due to margin requirements and/or fear   "shorts" mostly are selling for technical reasons. I have spoken with a few, including some of the ones posting articles on SA, and they unanimously mentioned that the stock was way overbought, went up too fast, and therefore they are selling. When pressed, they actually know very very little about the company and its products.   Finally, I was also able to speak with a few "potential investors" who haven't invested yet, but are thinking about it. What is holding them back? Their main fears are: huge volatility and small volatility due to the very small number of shares outstanding and the even smaller float.   All of this leads me to the same conclusion: If Unipixel comes out with some good news (which I firmly believe it will) a chain reaction will be set into place; this will be similar to knocking over the first domino.    Shorts will cover and some sideliners will jump in, causing the stock price to go up. Margin requirements will be decreased allowing more retail longs to increase their position, causing the stock price to go up. As we get into the high 20s or low 30s (which we will), I would expect the company to do a share split, which will increase liquidity and allow for more institutions to get in. This will cause the share price to go up even more.It won't take much longer after this for us to reach $500 million market cap, which will get Unipixel on the radar of many more companies / analysts, and will cause the stock price to go up much further. Currently many investors can't invest because they are too big (the investors), so they are waiting for Unipixel to grow first.   All of this will take a few months, but you just have to hurry up and wait.
