but who cares other than me .... lol
What really matters is spectrum ... but who cares about it most other than us pheasant investors???
1) Those who need to keep the door closed on competition or at least manage it long enough to gain some form of continued market superiorityand thus ensure continued survival .... candidates BCE, Rogers, Telus
2) Those who would like to grow their position in Canada by having greater access to infrastructure thus improving their ability to compete.
<>3) Those already competing in other countries ... a) in a dominant position b) a secondary player
4) Those with a completely different vision of where transmission of wireless digitized data can be used to their benefit in pursuing new money making ventures .... Google, Yahoo, RIM, Virgin etc etc etc etc
1) Encumbents want it but at the price they think is right .... that is too low and Greenhill knows it.
2) Cheaper to win it in the auction
3) a dominant probably views the Canadian market with the exception os Souther Ont as a waste of effort, a secondary player losing position could look at it as a last ditch effort to introduce something new and exciting and migrate the key learnings to the US market ... but will need deep pockets
4) Its a nice idea, but you also need the hardware, software and a bit of an idea on large scale billing operations and management in addition to technological innovation ... in which case need to develop a JV or split off the tech side from the mass business side ... like BCE and Nortel once was before BCE caught on that they are complete toast.
The winner will be ..... drum roll please ... Shareholders ... we only care in as much as we would like to sell it to the highest bidder ... have essentially no ability to manage a large scale operation, lack technological innovation and the pockets to make it happen but hold the pipeline to the future of data transmission in Canada.
Bring on the conversation, comments, flaws in thinking etc.
What do we need most .... PATIENCE!!!!!!
