Thanks Binder, no mention of permitting and changes to the rules and demands for information by the MVEIRB?

By the way, as you may know, the "Idle No More" campaign by natives up here (which has closed highways, bridges, and main lines of railroads, and there have also been flash mob round dances and singing etc. in shopping malls and other public places) is in respone to the Conservative federal government passing legislation recently to open up reserves for development by reducing environmental protections for some waterways, and allowing natives to lease out their reserve land, which is not privately owned but owned by the band living on it. There are also a number of native leaders who are on hunger strike.

However, these changes were asked for by the native leadership here last year in a conference, and now it is becoming clear that the problem is an internal political problem within the native population in Canada, not so much unified opposition by them to economic development. The government is meeting with native leadership later this week to demonstrate its commitment and concern to resolving the problem, but the main effort to resolve it will have to come from the native community itself. This will get solved. Ike
