My previous comments about the government Bill to empower native groups and call it "jobs, growth and prosperity" does not necessarily reflect on the Yellowknife / Tyhee projects which appear to already have buy-in from native groups and locals. Yellowknife has a long history of mining and an urbanized, more industrialized culture than the more remote regions which are more resistant to change and development.

The news reporting from local media outlets certainly stresses the economic benefits of further development in light of the winding down of various other projects, to the point where about half of economic output in NWT will disappear over the next 10-15 years unless replaced by projects such as Tyhee. And face to face interaction between local parties who have the power to make decisions unmediated by the feds may help development elsewhere as they are faced with these fundamental economic issues. But we shall just have to see what happens. Ike
