I hold a much more long-term view of the onset of mania. If you took ten adults from the street (even in NYC or some other financial center) and asked them what the POG is, you would be fortunate if 1 in 10 knew within $50. And she/he would probably know only because of selling their gold jewelry recently, not buying gold investments.

We are a long way from my cabbie telling me about a hot gold stock IMHO. Maybe 5 years or so.
