This is the first hint I have seen that DW was at least partially in agreement with the change. However, the lack of information and the 'interim CEO' still implies that this 'happened suddenly' rather than being planned. Also, DW's future involvement may just be a bone the BOD will throw to him. A big enough bone could even forever bury what really happened to force this sudden announcement.
