Well, I have no such restriction and I think a royalty company (your "metal stream") like Franco Nevada would be a great idea for a piece of the puzzle (not all of it). Sure, being on the other side of the royalty deal makes you a distant cousin to hedging, but it caps risk and provides funding to get the initial ounces out of the ground. And that guy pounds the drums for companies he likes and often invests in them (see OLV.V).
