"Yellowknife: Revisiting a historic gold camp with a new perspective"

Abstract:
The Yellowknife Gold Camp has yielded over 14 million ounces (>435 tonnes) of gold at an average grade of 0.45 troy ounces of gold per ton (15.5 gpt) since first discovered in 1936. Historically, gold has come from quartz veins and quartz sericite schist zones constrained to planar to curviplanar domains dominated by chlorite and chlorite carbonate schists, transecting Archean mafic volcanic rocks. These were interpreted to be shear zone-hosted gold deposits, and exploration over the past fifty years has focused on the extents of the known shear zones, and finding other shear zones.
Tyhee Development Corp focused on the Yellowknife area in 2001, acquired two known gold occurrences centered around and including a one million ounce past producer, and applied a more current understanding of shear zone models. To date Tyhee has succeeded in identifying five shear zone deposits and currently reports over 2 million ounces of gold resources. A critical concept in Tyhee's exploration program is recognizing the difference between schist zones and shear zones. This basic understanding allows for an expanded search criteria. Once a shear zone is identified, it is important to recognize controlling structures, the form of mineralization, and to recognize the effects of fractal geometry on interpretations.
Tyhee has recently announced a 39% increase in total contained gold resource and a 17% increase in the average grade for the Clan Lake deposit which is open and holds good potential for further increases. Progress continues on a Preliminary Feasibility Study and Permitting work, focusing on the Ormsby and Nicholas Lake Zones.
Please confirm your intention to attend by reply email so that the appropriate number of sandwiches can be ordered.
