I haven't yet gone into this article with any depth, but I was immediately struck by the first graph that projects peak gold production at year 2050 to the extent it is so well correlated with the rate in the rise in the world's human population.

Could there be a possible underlying link, not mentioned, between the demand for gold teeth and greater effective dentistry relative to the decrease in the number of extractions?

Just one more angle to consider, because it's all so confusing.
