You have to be careful with those kinds of analysis because there's rarely a 100% correlation in any of this. If the broad market indexes break down, I'd be surprised if the HUI didn't move down as well. GLD is another story, and I agree these correlations can change, but I suspect for that dynamic to change, we'd need to see some degree of systemic risk again.
