Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX: K, NYSE: KGC) is a Canadian-based gold mining company with mines and projects in the United States, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Russia, employing approximately 5,500 people worldwide. It is the third-largest gold mining company in North America by reserves and seventh in the world in production. [2]
Kinross’ core purpose is to lead the world in generating value through mining. With the best growth pipeline among major gold producers, Kinross expects annual production to increase from 1.6 million ounces in 2007 to 2.3 - 2.4 million ounces in 2009. Kinross produced 1.8 million gold equivalent ounces in 2008. [[3]
Kinross was the top-performing senior gold equity on the Toronto Stock Exchange [4] and New York Stock Exchange for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007. [5]
Now, I am guessing they would expand as needed to other counties like their home base. The point of my post was more of "crisis of declining reserves" worldwide.
