The more I know about Dave Webb the more respect I have for his judgments and capability in leading Tyhee to ever greater success.
So, when I (we) made a case to Dave for changing Tyhee's name to "Tyhee Gold" here, paraphrased, was his response:
Tyhee is now attempting to further increase its respect and credibility with sophisticated bankers and analysts. If it suddenly announced that its changing its name so when someone did a Google or Bing search, Tyhee Gold pops up and the company might possibly gain some "dumb" money investors, then Tyhee's credibility could be seriously questioned by these analysts and bankers.
Dave said he could see Tyhee would be laughed out of their offices with a significant loss in its credibility.
He said that he's seen companies change there names time and again just to reflect a certain commodity that happened to be priced higher. He experienced something like this when Tyhee spun off its IOCG properties in the Great Bear Lakes region. Alberta Star Development was formed which then became Alberta Star Mining following other name changes, either intended or realized. Each change was easily justifiable at that time, but in hindsight those changes proved to be a mistake.
If shareholders insist on changing Tyhee's name, they can place a resolution from the floor at the next AGM. This would be relatively inexpensive to do. But, what would cost substantially more (Dave has already experienced this option), shareholders could hire an attorney to request Tyhee hold a special meeting to effect a change.
And, that's pretty much what Dave wrote to me this afternoon.
Go TYHEE DEVELOPMENT CORP!
Cheers,
Baires
