Strike, You may be underestimating what is about to happen by suggesting,

"The only thing that might derail it [the PM blast-off] is another general equity crash, which I believe is a low probability at this time."

There are quite a few gurus who are predicting that the general markets will soon tank, eg. Bob Hoye, David Tice, Prechter and others.

Just look at the blue line on this chart. Some would think it's blue because it is about to tank in a waterfall-like 1930s repeat of crash #2 following the big one in 1929.
