I sure do. The feeling of anticipation of the quiet, basic and archaic human connectivity with nature. The way a simple drink of water seems like a treat, when sweaty and straining udring the first few miles of the hike. We Tyhee investors have set out on a journey. We may have thought that it was a nature walk, rather than a major trek. But we set out and then quickly found that the burden on our backs was REALLY HEAVY. Some put down the pack, and gave up, returning to the parking lot and to drive away and stay in a nice warm hotel.
Others pressed on through the mist, with the straps biting into their shoulders. Then, with each day, we became conditioned to the effort, and plugged along. Now, as gold passes through about $950 and Tyhee works through the EA process, we are closer to the destination than we are to the parking lot. The burden is also less heavy (we've consumed some of the food), and we are stronger.
Soon we'll smell a change in the air, as the salty air of the ocean comes into range. Then we'll hear the activity on the beaches, as the waves crash. Then we'll get some nice visuals, glimpses of the beach we planned to camp on.
Now we have a new source of strenght. But also, the trail is less traveled here. We feel that we have it all to ourselves, as so many have never pressed on to this point.
And then we turn a corner, and see several kilometers of beach. Lots of nice cedar driftwood laying all along the beach. Lots of great spots to pitch the tent in the dry sand above the tide line. Now, we put our pack down and make a nice camp. Our shoulders feel elevated with the weight off. Now we make a fire, with the easy splitting cedar, burning brightly. Fortunately, we each brought along a heavy, 4 litre wine box to enjoy at the beach. We start to take in the quiet sounds of the place, the fresh, alive feel of it. We feel rejuvenated and have no doubt that it was woth the effort.
To celebrate, some strip down and run out to swim in the cold Pacific Ocean. WOW, cold water sure makes one feel alive.
Now it's getting dark, our girlfriend/wife is making some food. After eating, and enjoying sunset, it's time for a candle lit evening of basic pleases. Neat how a candle in a tent casts interesting shadows...
OK. What's the point? Some journesy are very difficult but well worth it. Hang inthere, shoulder this load, to get to the beach. It is worth it.
