And, keep in mind the fundementals of why that bull market was ending and why this one is beginning. This recession will be much more comparible to the depression since the depression came early into the cycle of urbanization of the USA, just as this one comes early in the same cycle for China. The 80's recession came as that cycle was ending.
It also brings to mind that I keep hearing people talking about depression vs recession. As far as I'm aware, there is no such economic term as a depression. They are all recessions. Depressions are psychological terms and the Great Depression is really in reference to the pshycological state that this severe recession caused.
Fortunately, there are saftey nets in place now that were not then. So this recession will not have the same ramifications as did the depression, but it could be a worse recession in many ways. A worse recession but not as bad a depression.
