Adding a link confused me for a long time, but I think I figured it out. (The forum bb code could use an overhaul IMO)

To add a link:

1) type name you want to give link ("this is a test")

2) select text

3) The chain button (Insert/Edit link) in the toolbar is no longer greyed out, click it.

4) You should get a popup window that allows you to enter a link, enter it beginning with http://. There's also a field for "title", but that doesn't do anything AFAIK.
