I thought about the angle of fluctuating currencies. Short term, I'm as pessimistic as Puplava about the USD. Long term, though, I'm not. Ultimately, whether USD loses its status as the world's currency of choice or not, the U.S. will still have a huge economy and a country at a good stage of development. Even if the doom and gloom hypotheses come true, the U.S. will not magically become a third world country, and it will recover.

With the dollars close to parity, now is a good a time to buy either share. On the U.S. share you get a hedge if USD goes down in value on the world stage. For a bit, anyways. The Canadian government may be forced to peg the CAD to the USD because our economies are so intertwined. On the CAD share, you might lose a bit if, 3-4 years down the road, the USD stages a recovery. Either way, if the stock goes up 400% you'll be happy.

The exchange rate is almost at parity between the two currencies, so the valuation between the two shares should ideally be the same.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Over The Counter market in the U.S. is not as liquid as the TSX Venture exchange -there will frequently be discrepencies because over the counter transactions take place between brokers, and sometimes within the same brokerage, not on a real time open bid platform. This just means you have to be more patient for the value of the shares to reach your price sometimes, and also means you can't be in a rush to sell. Wait for what you know it is worth.
