Going Negative on Tyhee...One Point of View.
For all of you who think this Forum is restricted to only positive Tyhee comments, and think that negative points of view are not welcomed, think again.
I got this message from a friend of mine who just gave me permission to post it.
Cheers,
Baires
"About Tyhee... I wanted to write to you. I know you are a big fan. I recently took control of my mother's investment portfolio, a sizeable amount. I was going to place a portion of it in Tyhee after listening to earlier interviews Jim did with Dave Webb, and knowing he was invested in the company, hearing your comments and reading a bit, so I waited to hear Jim interview Dave Webb on the show recently. After listening, I decided against investing in the company. Just a few things that you might even consider inconsequential that I would mention. At one point Webb said this, "Business is about making your shareholders money." This is a very big mistake on his part, and I don't think he even realizes it. Business is not about making money for your shareholders. Business is about producing something. Business is about doing quality work. This is almost like Joe Torre saying, "Baseball is about keeping fans in the stands." From one viewpoint, this is correct, but a great baseball coach would never say something like this. That scared me. I got to meet a great one last year and hear him speak, Peter Merrone. I can't imagine he would ever say something like this. Also Dave Webb talked a lot about the qualifications of his board members. He talked about their degrees and titles. You know as well a I do that degrees and titles mean absolutely nothing. He refrained from saying anything about anything of quality that any of these guys had done. I'm not saying that they haven't done anything of qulaity, but I am saying that it is significant that Dave Webb did not take the chance to point such things out. Another red flag. ...Just some things to think about. Tyhee has great properties, but that really doesn't mean much. Look at XM satellite radio. One of the greatest concepts in the past 100 years and crappy management just drove it right into the ground. Took what could have been a great, great investment and just turned it slowly into crap. I get the sense from listening to you on the Q calls that you are someone who really works hard to do his homework, and who thinks about things, so I just wanted to present you with a different view. Ignore it if it means nothing to you. Hope you do well. "
