MAIN TIBBITT TO CONTWOYTO WINTER ROAD (NUNA Logistics Ltd)
General Summary
The volume of traffic has decreased significantly this past week as carriers approach their final loads for the season. As of midnight on March 27, a total of 7389 loads had been dispatched north and a total of 876 backhauls had been completed. Throughout the past week, a total of 272 loads were delivered north with the daily average for the week at 39 loads.
The past two days have seen daily loads of less than 20 and this is expected to further decrease throughout the weekend. Effective March 27th, the Yellowknife Dispatch office will operate between the hours of 0700-2400 daily.
Next Seven Days
The road is scheduled to be closed for the season effective 1800hrs, March 31. Winter road camps will continue with equipment maintenance, inventory counts and other preparations for camp closing until at least April 10th.
Should any companies have any “emergency loads” that need to get on the road after this date they are to contact Erik Madsen (JV – 867-445-4604) , Alan Fitzgerald (Nuna – 780-238-5358) or David Madder (Nuna – 867-873-1352) and upon review of the ice and the conditions of the portages it will be determined if the loads can proceed.
SECONDARY ROUTE (RTL ROBINSON ENTERPRISES LTD)
Effective Tuesday March 25th, the secondary route was closed for heavy haul traffic for the season after final inspection by the DIAND Inspector. Snow berms were placed at Round Lake (Tyhee camp access- northbound) and at the turn off at Gibbs Lake (on the main road - southbound). The result of this, is that public traffic will only be able travel from Prosperous Boat launch to Tyhee camp but do so at their own risk
