I did a quick search and this is what I came up with:
I researched companies in the entire v.tsx and the tsx and I came up with 89 companies that hit their 52 week low today, while only 7 hit their 52 week high.
I then did the same search using stocks in the "basic materials" category and 60 hit their 52 week low today, while only 1 (v.kty) hit their 52 week high. Metals, commodities, resources etc, all taking a big hit. Even t.pot, (Potash corp) is down 20%.
Those involved in this senseless selling across the board therefore crystallizing their losses will no doubt some day soon look upon these actions as one of their biggest investment blunders they could of ever made. Then the second biggest mistake is get back in after they get the "warm fuzzy" feeling that the markets are fun again.
For some (the minority) investors this down slide is a dream come true. For others it is a total disaster. To avoid being in the disaster camp the solution is actually very simple.
"When others are crying you should be buying". Control your emotions by practicing rational thinking based on facts and solid DD, (not following the herd). Patience is a must! You just have to give events time to develop.
