...And to futher your point I would like to add that the drilling was far far conclusive and had only just begun to define the resource. GEA was working from surface as the old mine shaft was full of water, they had no access other than water or an ice road in winter and the resource at the 7,000 foot level was very expensive to drill eating up all of GEA's funds. AEM made a strategic investment in GEA that caused Goldcorp to pull the trigger on the purchase sooner than later and since they had underground workings reasonably close by they had a big advantage over AEM causing them to withdraw with a big profit on their shares.

To develope Bruce Channel Goldcorp is going to spend over a billion on an underground high speed tram and pumping out of the old shaft. If SKP starts to show similar veining to SGR I would be willing to bet that things will happen fairly quickly on the takeover front with SGR having the inside edge. One of my suspicions has always been that SGR is deliberately staying away from the high grade and is only producing enough gold to finance operations in order to slow SP appreciation and ultimately keep attention away from SKP. When SGR moves, SKP moves. So if the SGR boys develope their high grade stopes and then move their crews onto more developement mining rather than high grade mining they in effect have the gold ready to go when they are ready to pull the trigger. Rice Lake receive minimal attention other than from those that know. Excuse me for rambling about something I have no knowledge of, however it is a possibility.
