Focused on the Rice Lake Gold Belt
Artie, sticking around the Bedfords Lake area ( Cougar) , Strike Point is also sittting next door. I guess this is the reason we get feed back , we can hike back and forth and share the same water bottle and the conversation sometimes inter mixes. here is our loction to Cougar...South East of Angelina claims
The Beresford Lake project includes ten claims and covers
2493 ha (5995 acres)
Access is provided by road and by many trails on either
side of Beresford Lake.
The property is underlain by folded, sheared and fractured
felsic and ultramafic volcanic rocks, gabbro and derived
sedimentary rocks at the contact between the Uchi and
North Caribou Subprovinces
Located about 120 metres west of the Beresford Project,
the Gunnar Mine hosts gold mineralization in shear zones
that strike 075-110° and dip steeply in quartz-carbonatechlorite
schist. The gold is found mostly in blue-grey mottled
quartz veins that contain minor sulphides, iron carbonate
and tourmaline.
From 259,681 tonnes of production that yielded 3103 kg
of gold, the average grade at the Gunnar Mine was 11.9
g/t Au and 1.3 g/t Ag.
About 3km further north but still 500m west of the Beresford
claims, the Oro Grande-Solo Mine produced 165 kg
of gold and 16.3 kg of silver from 9700 tonnes of ore from
a shaft for an average grade of 17.0 g/t Au. The ore was
produced from a quartz-filled shear zone striking 330° 65°
E in gabbro. The quartz vein is 2-6m wide and has a
strike length of 120m.
Similarly, 900m further north at the Mandalay several lowsulphide
quartz-filled shear zone occur in a zone 12m
wide and 850m long in gabbroic rocks. The grade reported
is 10.2 g/t Au over 6m.
The rocks that host the mineralization at Mandalay and
Oro Grande strike directly onto the Beresford Property
The Beresford Lake Shear Zone and the East Garner
Shear Zone have been mapped striking north through the
property
Additional quartz veins up to 150m long and 1-2m wide
often with a strike of 300-335° with variable quantities of
gold up to 1 g/t Au are present in volcanic and gabbroic
rocks at the Bermuda and Midway occurrences.
The 2009 exploration program will consist of additional
surface prospecting utilizing the results of reconnaissanc
