US Markets start the year a little shaky. While internals are OK, VIX is elevated, which means the market is uneasy. Perhaps the weight of the world's problems is starting to affect sentiment. This is one of those years where the first 5 trading days in January might be truly significant. If they are down, then it could be a difficult year. We'll see.

Resource markets remain under pressure, with the crash in the oil price adding to the woes of the long-suffering metals. If US markets have a major correction this year, Canadian markets will likely do considerably worse. This could even be the year that Venture has a complete melt-down. Meantime, Venture is massively oversold just before a period of seasonal strength, so a decent bounce should be in the works. If the bounce is weak, it would be a very bad omen, and I will be out ASAP.

So I start the New Year with fingers crossed, but well aware that hope is not a trading strategy. Happy New Year to all, and good luck with trading in 2015!
