Re-ignition of the Yukon – A step closer to the golden glow

Yukon News

Yesterday, Kaminak Gold announced drill results that have given new life to the Yukon Gold plays. Kaminak intersected 15.5 metres of 17.1 g/t gold in their first drill hole of the season. Their second drill hole, drilled from the same location but at a steeper angle intersected 2 significant gold bearing intersections including 1.26 g/t of gold over 60.23 metres and 1.15 g/t gold over 51.32 metres. These results are promising for the entire Dawson Range district, including Silver Quest’s Boulevard property which is located directly south and contiguous to Kaminak’s Coffee project. Boulevard has many geological similarities to both the Supremo Zone at Coffee and the Golden Saddle Deposit on Underworld’s (Kinross’) White Gold Property.

Boulevard Status

The Boulevard project has been extensively soil sampled over the main area of interest. Soil sampling is a technique that quite accurately reveals the chemistry of the rock below surface in this part of the Yukon due to the lack of a large historical glaciation event. Silver Quest has outlined a 2.5 kilometre long gold-arsenic-antimony-barium soil anomaly hosted in gneissic rock. This area has been trenched and returned 7 g/t gold over 6 metres and 6.4 g/t gold over 2 metres.

The geological similarities between Coffee, Golden Saddle and Boulevard include:

  • Arsenic-Antimony-Barium indicator elements outlining significant soil anomalies.
  • Visible evidence of large amounts of fluid flow through mineralized rocks in trenches
  • Mineralized rocks undergoing various episodes of brecciation
  • Presence of oxidized, limonitic, clay- and silica-altered host rocks
  • Mineralized zones that are structurally hosted
  • Evidence of multiple structures, trending in various directions
  • Highly disseminated, non-visible gold
  • A correlation between mineralization and geophysical magnetic signatures

Silver Quest is just getting under way with their Yukon exploration program. Plans include more soil sampling, expanding upon the current trenching and drilling approximately 2500 metres over about 15 holes at Boulevard.

Bottom Line

The Silver Quest team is excited and looking forward with high expectations to their exploration program at Boulevard and elsewhere this season. The Dawson Range is an extremely under explored part of the world and there is a wide belief that there are many more deposits to be found in the area. Boulevard has all the indicators of a deposit waiting to be found. And remember, unlike some other exploration plays in the area, SQI has a significant resource base already.
