For those of you who have not yet heard Jean Francois Tartif's speech I encourage you to listen. I thought it was quite good and actually learning a whole new way of thinking. A light went on where it was rather dim before. ha ha I have been struggling with whether deflation or inflation will win. Pimco's Bill Gross, the bond king, is in the deflationary camp. Paulson who is starting the gold hedge fund this year is in the other inflationary camp. Tartif says there will be cycles over the next couple of years where during some time period, inflationary forces will be winning. Then another cycle will start where deflationary will be winning. If he is correct (and I assume he is as he has LOTS more $$$ than have I), that will change the way we trade depending on what cycle we are in. I just had never thought of it that way before. He mentioned that his 2nd best commodity he likes is agriculture which I have been talking about since Don Coxe again came out and said "ag awakening." What I hope is that we all here can stick together and help each other win no matter what cycle we find ourselves in. There is some safety in numbers!
