Not exactly sure what it means but I'll take it. Seems like a duplicate but I really don't understand patent stuff.

Sprylogics Granted Canadian Patent for Multi-mode Location Based E-directory Service

  • Patent Provides Sprylogics Increased Intellectual Property and Industry Leading Capabilities

TORONTO, Feb. 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Sprylogics International Corp. ("Sprylogics" or the "Company") (TSXV: SPY), a technology provider of local mobile search and messaging solutions for consumers and businesses is pleased to announce that it has been granted a new patent for a "Multi-Mode Location Based E-Directory Service Enabling Method System and Apparatus". This addition compliments the Company's existing intellectual property portfolio of granted or pending patents.

Canadian Patent No. 2,600,849 was granted on December 10 2013, and it is described as follows:

A method prepares a response when providing e-Directory services to a user making a user request for location-based supplier information. The method includes identifying from said user request a desired location for which the user is requesting supplier information, identifying from the user request at least one informational element useful in querying a directory of suppliers, querying a primary directory of suppliers using said desired location and said informational element in order to generate primary supplier hits, querying the world wide web (www) using said desired location and said informational element in order to generate www supplier hits, merging said primary supplier hits with said www supplier hits to create a list of suppliers including a plurality of facts respecting each supplier in said list, sorting all supplier hits in said list by proximity to said desired location, purging any duplicate supplier hits, and formatting said list of suppliers to remove any facts extraneous to presentation over a viewing device to said user.

"The services associated with this patent continue to be revenue drivers behind our product offerings", says Marvin Igelman, CEO of Sprylogics. "This patent adds a protective feature and barrier to entry for competitors in the areas related to location-based e-directory services."

This patent is related to US 7,941,430 that was also granted to Poynt (acquired by Sprylogics) by the US Patent Office on May 10, 2011.
