You can earn activity points by filling your profile with information about yourself (what city you live in, your favorite team, blogs etc.)
I'm sure I read some where that since apple gave up using google map software and going it on their own that they have now just bought a Canadian company that will help them on that front I believe they didn't realize that it's not all that easy to do..can't remember the name of the company.
