"But greed comes in all colours I guess."

Well spoken, Googleye.

Last night I saw the stage production in Victoria, BC, of Where the Blood Mixes by the native Canadian playwright Kevin Loring. This is a very powerful story about the impact of residential schools on generations of Canadian native peoples. As a white guy I know intellectually of this story. I can not feel, however, the emotional impact over generations of native peoples because I'm a white dude.

In the 1990's I met Ovid Mecredi in Ottawa, the First Nations Grand Chief at the time. On my invitation as the president of a training group in Ottawa, he addressed a monthly meeting. He opened his address to the mainly white audience with these words: "I know you, but you don't know me."

Those words stuck with me over the years, and came front stage centre (no pun intended) last night.

At this time the question for me is: Can I possibly understand what is behind the native blockage up at the ROF? I believe in some ways I can. The native people up at the ROF, just like Mr. Mecredi, are made of the same DNA as myself. And I honestly believe that at their core they are the same as me. Therefore, as human beings they have the same strengths and weaknesses.

Alas, one of their weaknesses is greed, and the need for power. Are they any different than me?

So Mr. Mecredi, I do think I know you - at least in part. Hopefully this weakness doesn't mess things up for the native peoples in the ROF because many of them are investors in the ROF companies including Spider Resources.

Thank you Googleye for your insights.
